Name it! Where to eat and what to wear in London (part 3)

I am often asked where to eat in London so I’ve decided to share my favourite restaurants in three instalments:

  1. In-between casual and fancy (see this Substack)

  2. Casual (see last week’s Substack)

  3. Fancy

We have arrived at the final instalment - Fancy restaurants - which there are a ton of in London, but dare I say few I like? So here is a very curated list of 13 restaurants perfect for special occasions which are (more or less) worth the money.

Also - thank you so much for subscribing, it means alot. Thanks to you I was actually ranked number 93 in Substack’s “Rising in Fashion & Beauty” list globally this week! And if you’re not a subscriber then please:

Part III. Fanccccccy

You may by now know that I love when an outfit has contrasting elements, e.g. a pair of jeans with heels, a silk skirt with a plaid shirt. But dressing up rarely allows for a lot of contrast and can quickly lean quite serious…which is possibly why I find it difficult.

A saviour of mine for any fancy spring occasion are therefore these wide-leg Dries Van Noten chinos (I have the same style in grey flannel for winter). The fit of them make them very dressed up, but the cotton chino fabric leans casual, making them so fun to style.

Dires Van Noten trousers (this season’s version, but these look nice too), Saint Laurent vintage jacket, Céline pre-fall 2017 pirate shoes in white (found them in black on Vestiaire), Old Celine box bag (this is stunning and a great price???), Sophie Bille Brahe earrings

Last summer I purchased a vintage Saint Laurent jacket at one of my favourite secondhand/vintage stores in Oslo, Ma. I love how the jacket has quite a feminine fit while the chinos are oversized.

I will always where heels to a fancy restaurant and with this outfit my Old Celine pirate shoes work perfectly.

So where would I eat in this? Easy…

  • The River Cafe (Hammersmith) - Nothing compares, truly. Perfect for special occasions and equally delicious for both lunch and dinner (lunch/dinner)

  • Dorian (Notting Hill) - One of the hottest restaurants in London atm, cool vibe, amazing food (but *quite* expensive) (lunch/dinner)

  • The Dover (Mayfair) - American/Italian with amazing interiors by one of my favourite design firms, Quincoces-Dragò, and lovely atmosphere (dinner)

Here I’m actually wearing the same Dries Van Noten trousers as above but in grey flannel. I wore this to go out in Mayfair in mid-March but have since retired the trousers for spring. The noName Halterneck is new for spring in a beautiful fluffy cashmere yarn. I can’t wait to wear it with denim or white in the coming months.

noName Cashmere Halterneck, Dries Van Noten trousers, Acne men’s car coat, Completed Works earrings, Magda Butrym heels (I am waiting excitedly for her collection with H&M to drop)

noName Cashmere Halterneck, Completed Works earrings, Sophie Bille Brahe earrings, The Attico pouch (I really like this on Vestiaire)

  • La Petite Maison (Mayfair) - Pricey but one of the best restaurants for classic yet delicious French food (I prefer lunch here)
